A.T.E. solar CPC45 system for process heat application in Textile (Garmenting)
A.T.E. Solar team has successfully commissioned CPC45 (Compound Parabolic Concentrator) installation for textile process heat application at Frontier Knitter’s Private Limited (FKPL), Tirupur. FKPL produces about 20,000 pieces of garments each day.
A.T.E.'s CPC45 modules with total aperture area 44 m2 generate 1500 l/day of water at 95 °C. The CPC45 modules are installed on the inclined roof of the unit with specially designed structures. A thermal storage facility is provided to enable operation when solar radiation is not available, which is about 4 hours/day.
The system was handed over to the FKPL on in August, after a detailed evaluation of its performance. The CPC45 solar thermal system delivers about 1,00,500 kcal/day, which when combined with energy efficiency solutions saves least 2,00,000 kcal/day. This reduces FKPL’s fuel cost by more than Rs 1,000/day and dependency on the conventional boiler.
